World Environment Day Observation

CDP and partner organizations has observed The World Environment Day in Cox'sbazar, Barisal, Bagherhat, Satkhira, Khulna, Shariatpur, Pabna, Jhenaidaha, Sirajganj, Khagrachari.
CDP and partners organizations jointly organized cultural rally, followed by a press briefing. High school students, NGOs, Csos, local administration participated in this rallies.

25th April 2013, Human Chain

CDP Demands on behalf of the KJDRP affected people

Coastal Development Partnership, RUPSA, Paribartan-Khulna, SEDOP, NGO Forum on ADB jointly organized a Human Chain in Khulna on 25th April 2013. The Organizations demanded extension of time period for the affected people to claim compensation to ADB for their projects. Principle Jafar Imam presided over the Human Chain.

Mr. Shamol Singh Roy of Sammilito Samajik Andolon, Shahnewaz Ali of Brihattara Khulna Unnayan Sangram Parishad, General Secretary of SUJON Advocate Qudrat E Khuda was present and spoke in the Human Chain. They clearly expressed their solidarity on the issue and demanded that ADB should be accountable to local people.

SM Iqbal Hossain Biplob presented the six point demand on behalf of the Khulna Jessore Drainage Rehibilitation project implemented by ADB. Development Activist Afjal Hossain Razu, Hironmoy Mondal of Rupsa, Fazle Bari of AOSED, Jalal Uddin Ahmed, Rama Das, Nikhil Biswas, Afroza of CDP was also present in the Human Chain.

46th ADB AGM

ADB's 46th Annual Governor's Meeting held in Delhi, India from 2nd May 2013 to 5th May 2013. Beside a number of side events also took place by different organization, groups. CDP is following the ADB project since 1997 and raised voice against their unfair and disastrous projects in Bangladesh and around asia.

CDP participated in the 46th ADB AGM and different side events. CDP is preparing a report on this 46th ADB AGM which will be available in few days.

Fourth High Level Forum 2 by cdp

In Busan, Korea, on the occasion of the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4) from 29 November-1 December 2011, delegates met to review progress on implementing the principles of the Paris Declaration, and discussed how to maintain the relevance of the aid effectiveness agenda in the context of the evolving development landscape.

Culminating in the signing of the Busan Partnership Agreement for Effective Development Co-operation by ministers of developed and developing nations, emerging economies, providers of South-South and triangular co-operation and civil society, the HLF-4 marks a critical turning point in development co-operation.

Busan Partnership Agreement

After extended negotiations, 18 sherpas elected to represent a wide group of stakeholders reached agreement on the Busan Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation. This declaration for the first time establishes an agreed framework for development cooperation that embraces traditional donors, South-South cooperators, the BRICs, CSOs and private funders. This marks a turning point for international development co-operation.

Climate Think Tank

Climate Think Tank organization made a worldwide observatory on climate think tanks and choose CDP as a development & environmental activist organization. On January 01, 1997, CDP was instituted as a coordinating secretariat for a network of NGOs trying to relieve the sufferings of the people of the waterlogged areas in the southwest coastal region of Bangladesh.

Jahangir Hasan Masum, Executive Director of Coastal Development Partnership presented the "Transforming Marginalized Women into Grassroot Climate Leaders through Community-Driven Climate Change Adaptation in Bangladesh" in a side event titled "Towards a Low Emission Economy - Pro Poor and Gender Responsive Adaptation and Mitigation: Experience form India and Bangladesh".

Earth Day Observation

Coastal Development Partnership organized a Tutu Memorial Drawing Competition among the high school students in Khulna to observe the Earth Day 2013. The competition was devoted to the late founder of the organization Ashraf-Ul-Alam Tutu and was named on him.

50 Students from reknowned high scools in Khulna City participated in the competition. The competition theme was “The face of Climate Change”. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Nazrul Islam Manju (Honorable MP, Khulna 2) and was chaired by the famous Educationist Principal Jafar Imam. Mr. Harun Ur Eashid, District Administrator of Khulna District was present as the Chief Guest. Mokbul Hossain Mintu, President, Khulna Press Club attended the competition as the Special Guest. Mr. Shamol Singh Roy, Central Leader of Bangladesh Krishak League, CDP Advisor Sheikh Abdul Jalil, Editor of Desh Sanjog Mr. Mahbubul Alam Shohag, Hironmoy Mondal of Rupsa, CDP’s Divisional Coordinator S. M. Iqbal Hossain Biplob also attended the competition and motivated the young students by their speech. Rama Das of CDP facilitated the event. Mr. Kanak Rahman, Khulna Bureau Chief of Ekattor TV, Staff Reporter of Bangla Vision Mr. Atiar Parvez and Milon Biswas, Director of Khulna Art Academy was the adjudicator of the Competition.

The Competitors took part in the competition in two categories: Group A: Students from Class 9 to Class 10, Group B: Students from Class 6 to Class 8. At the end of the competition the judges scrutinized all the art works and selected three students from each group as the winners.
The chief guest Mr. Harunur Rashid distributed prizes among the winners. The rest of the participants also recievd gift as the participants.
